Pledged gold release process — step by step
Release pledged gold, hold the jewellery, then decide whether to sell. Gold loan closure documents start with the slip.
How to sell pledged gold is not a shop-only job. Release pledged gold first — at the lender — then a buyer can test it. This page is the walk-through we give on WhatsApp before anyone takes leave from work.
- Photograph the pledge slip: number, principal, interest, weight, branch.
- We tell you whether closing and selling is likely to leave a balance.
- We go with you to the lender and settle the dues.
- The ornaments come back to your hands first.
- Touchstone and scale; offer; lender dues already paid come off; you take the balance.
The RBI 7-working-day rule
Under the Reserve Bank of India’s directions on lending against gold and silver collateral (2025), a lender must return pledged gold on the day of repayment or settlement, and in any case within 7 working days. If the delay is the lender’s fault, the directions provide for compensation to the borrower (₹5,000 per day). We cite that so you know the clock; we are not the lender and we do not enforce it. Muthoot gold release time follows that clock when a branch is slow.
Same-day release is common when a branch is free and the dues are paid over the counter. Bank loans sometimes add a closure letter. We plan around the branch, not around a slogan.
No. Takeover means another lender replaces the loan. We buy gold; we do not lend.
Gold loan closure procedure: pay the outstanding at the branch, collect the packet, then sell if you wish. Gold loan closure documents are the slip, Aadhaar, and any form the lender issues.
